Community Contributions
Student Volunteer at Singapore Computer Society
On August 7th, I volunteered for a Digital Upskilling Workshop organized by the Singapore Computer Society and IMDA. My role involved guiding elderly participants in using essential Singaporean digital services, specifically the Singpass and HealthHub applications. The experience was valuable for developing my communication and empathy skills, as I learned directly about seniors' perspectives on technology adoption. It also provided a good opportunity to network with other SCS volunteers.
Student Volunteer at Autism Resource Centre (Singapore) / Pathlight School
During a visit by Pathlight students to Ngee Ann Poly, we focused on several areas. We facilitated campus exploration, highlighting facilities like the engineering aircraft and maker's academy. We introduced fundamental programming skills through a hands-on Scratch workshop where students built a Pong game. We also equipped them with crucial digital literacy skills by teaching social media safety and awareness of online threats like deepfakes. Importantly, this interaction also developed our skills as guides, enhancing our ability to communicate effectively and fostering empathy by working closely with the students.
